Spa & Leisure
Hidden behind the brick walls of the garden, surrounded by tumbling roses and richly scented lavender, the spa at Cliveden is a glamorous oasis inspired by prominent women in the estate's history. Indoors there is a beautiful pool, seven treatment rooms and a gym, while in the garden you will find steaming hot tubs and the infamous Profumo pool, famed for its association with the Profumo affair in the 1960s. There are also both indoor and outdoor tennis facilities.,A light, white and airy environment with effortless style, the scents throughout the spa are inspired by Anna-Maria, for whom Cliveden was originally built, and the house's most famous resident, Nancy Astor. These scents reflect the combination of strength, subtlety and femininity of the women who inspired them, in an array of face and body treatments using Cliveden's own product line as well as Sarah Chapman Skinesis, and OSKIA. The Studio offers manicures and pedicures, and after all of that you can enjoy healthy al fresco dining in The Spa Kitchen.
Hotel & Accommodation
Having played host to almost every British monarch since George I, as well as being home to a couple of earls, dukes, and a prince, Cliveden was taken over by hotel scions- the Astors- in 1906, becoming a favourite destination amongst world leaders and literary legends alike. Of course it doesn't really need that history to recommend it because the five star mansion surrounded by 376 acres of National Trust grounds is a hospitality fairytale by virtue of its own beauty, facilities and service, boasting rooms that have the kind of elegant, textured soft furnishings even the Downton Abbey cast would be envious of. In 2015 it reopened its doors, fresh off of a 16 month restoration programme.,Speaking of literary legends, George Bernard Shaw was an advocate of Cliveden's epicurean fare, and without surprise: fine dining in the André Garrett at Cliveden with a menu from the celebrated chef who joined the hotel in 2013 from his starring role in some of Mayfair's most renowned restaurants. The dining salon has a view of the gardens and the Thames, while the seductive den that was once the Duke of Westminster's personal stables now forms The Club Room, where stools are made of saddles, the table legs are carved into the shape of horse hooves and the afternoon tea comes highly recommended.
Local Attractions
You can hire a boat to potter along the river, but if you fancy venturing further afield, Cliveden is close to Windsor Castle, Windsor Racecourse, Ascot, Legoland, and Henley.
Scenic Location
Guests can pay a fee to explore the National Trust grounds in the summer, but are given exclusive entry in the low season when they are ordinarily closed.
Romantic Weekend
Aside from the general beauty of the location, there is a secret garden with an outdoor pool- it doesn't get more romantic than that!
Family Friendly
There is a maze to explore, a children's play area, and children are also allowed in the spa at set hours in the morning and afternoon.
Restaurant
If the restaurant was good enough for George Bernard Shaw, it's good enough for us ... plus there is an underground wine cellar for private dining.
Hotel Spa Venue
After being recently refurbished, the spa is the perfect combination of contemporary facilities and historic style.
